Liversedge U11A were knocked out of the Peter Myers cup in the semi-final stage playing against Wakefield Thornes. Playing in absolutely atrocious conditions, Liversedge never looked the team they have been early in the season. Liversedge batted first and scored 250 for 3 (226 net) with Cameron Feather 10/1, Jalil Akbar 7* and Dan Cross 6*. Taking to the field, Liversedge took early wickets but were unable to stop Thornes scoring runs. Thornes finished victorious with 278 for 4 (246 net) with James Ives taking 3 wkts and Jalil Akbar 1 wkt. Unfortunately, Liversedge have played totally uncharacteristic cricket in the last 2 weeks faced with difficult playing conditions. A disappointing end to an otherwise very sucessful season for the lads. |

Liversedge U11A were up in the finals day of the league championship. After a 4 hour wait, the 2nd semi-final got under way with Liversedge taking on Thornes. Liversedge batted first and scored 277 for 3 (253 net) with Dan Cross 23* and Jalil Akbar 20*. This should have been a tall target for Thornes but poor bowling and fielding from Liversedge gave them an edge and they soon began to amass a good score. Thornes finished with 271 for 2 (255 net) with Dan Cross and Jake Brook sharing a wicket a piece. Our old friend Bob Extra (17*) made a unwanted comeback and gave Thornes victory. Unfortunately liversedge just did not bowl or field well and gave away runs at leisure resulting in being knocked out in the semi-final. Thornes go on to play Wrenthorpe in the final on Friday. |

Drighlington were no match and could not sustain the run rate to reach the target; they finished on 239 for 8 (175 net) with Jalil Akbar and Aiden Sheard claiming 2 wkts a piece. The Heavy Woollen U11 representative side played in the final of the Lords Taverners Yorkshire Cricket Festival 2008 against Halifax. Heavy Woollen chose to bat first and made a steady start only to lose 2 quick important wickets. Then in came Dan Cross and Cameron Feather of Liversedge who steadied the ship and had a big partnership to take the score beyond Halifax's reach. Heavy Woollen finished on 163 for 4 with Dan Cross 39 and Cameron Feather 57*. Nicholas Richardson and Jalil Akbar, also from Liversedge, did not get to bat. In sweltering heat, Halifax did not get off to a good start and started to fall behind on run-rate and lost crucial wickets; they finished on 87 for 9, way short of the target. Nicholas Richardson kept wicket well even in the extreme heat and Jalil Akbar chipped in with 2 for 2 off his one unscripted over. Heavy Woollen won the competition with style for the 2nd year running. Liversedge's Cameron Feather was nominated Man-of-the-Match for his unbeaten 57*. Well done lads! |

Liversedge U11A played host to Birstall today in a league match. Batting first Liversedge put on a modest 265 for 2 (249 net) with Dan Cross 20* and Nicholas Richardson 12*. A strong Birstall side came out to surpass that total but were unable to handle the Liversedge pace bowling attack. Birstall wickets tumbled regularly and they ended with 276 for 10 (197 net) with Dan Cross, Bradley Holt and Jalil Akbar taking 2 wkts a piece. |

Liversedge U11A played away in a league encounter with group leaders Gomersal today. Liversedge batted first and knocked up a very commendable 309 for 2 (293 net). Cameron Feather top-scored with 19* followed by Nicholas Richardson 16*. In reply, Gomersal scored 267 for 6 (219 net) with Dan Cross and Cameron Feather taking 2 wkts a piece. An easy win in the end with some classic batting from the lads on an awkward wicket. It is worth mentioning that Liversedge U11A have won every league and cup game so far but fell behind on points because more of our matches have been rained off. |
